Brunello Cucinelli brought a slice of the Big Apple’s party scene (by way of Umbria, Italy’s lusso tranquillo) to Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood on Thursday night.
Following an intimate 120-person dinner party at the iconic hotel’s courtyard restaurant, A-list guests — including previous The Hollywood Reporter cover star Jon Hamm and wife Anna Osceola, Chris Pine, Ava DuVernay and Rachel Zoe, among others — spilled over to the private Bar Marmont, already filled wall-to-wall with partygoers across film and fashion. The star-studded, lapel-suit-filled scene felt more New York than California. Despite the night’s quiet luxury (Cucinelli is the king of it), there was nary a pair of cashmere sweatpants in sight at the Indochine-inspired hideaway.
Held a stone’s throw from the Italian designer’s Los Angeles boutiques, the second annual fete kicked off with a seated dinner that also included Oprah Winfrey, Kevin Costner and producing partner Rod Lake, Sharon Stone (seated next to the man of the hour), Shonda Rhimes, Quinta Brunson, Sophia Bush, Eve Hewson, January Jones, Darren Starr, Law Roach, Casey Affleck and Caylee Cowan, Ashley Park, Caitlyn Dever, Kyle MacLachlan and Desiree Gruber, Lili Reinhart, Madelaine Petsch, Thuso Mbedu, Joseph Lee, Poorna Jagannathan, Tasya Van Ree and Ava Phillippe, to name just a few.

Cucinelli, known for his “humanistic capitalism” approach to business (and his $2,300 mohair sweaters), spoke about the importance of family and spirituality during the holiday season. Surrounded by guests wearing his Fall-Winter womenswear and menswear lines, the 71-year-old entrepreneur reminded the crowd of their responsibility to care for those less fortunate rather than casting them away.
The man of the hour and his A-list attendees were joined by his family members, company co-vice president Carolina Cucinelli and husband, men’s creative director Alessio Piastrelli (the couple are widely regarded as the potential successors to the designer); co-vice president Camilla Cucinelli and husband, CEO Riccardo Stefanelli; and North America president and CEO Massimo Caronna. The West Coast celebration marks the second anniversary of Carolina Cucinelli and Pastrelli’s part-time move to Los Angeles. (The couple purchased a Spanish Revival home in L.A. in 2022.)

Hamm (who told THR that the event was the best party of the year) made a beeline for the venue’s outdoor patio in a blue pinstripe Cucinelli suit, while newly single stylist Zoe and sister Pamela Rosenzweig were spotted at the bar with Instagram founder Kevin Systrom.
“I wanted to leave after the dinner and my sister wanted to go to the after-party,” explained Zoe, who wore a white floor-length gown by Cucinelli.
The starry soirée follows the brand’s latest collection with Neiman Marcus in October and exclusive capsules with Net-A-Porter and Mr. Porter in November. Per Reuters, the luxury fashion company saw a 24 percent rise in sales in 2023, and the brand expects revenue to grow by 10 percent annually from 2024 through 2026.
