Young Koreans on the hunt for part-time gigs are looking to trendy stores and pop-up events, while convenience stores remain their No. 1 choice.
SEOUL – Young Koreans seeking part-time gigs are increasingly looking for opportunities at trendy stores and pop-up events, while convenience stores remain their No. 1 choice, an online recruiting firm specializing in part-time and temporary job listings said Monday.
Alba Heaven’s 2024 analysis of keywords searched on its website and app revealed that “yogurt ice cream” spiked nearly 14 times, reflecting the local food trend. Searches for “Yoajeong” and “Yogurt World,” two leading franchises specializing in yogurt ice cream, jumped up to 38 times, compared to the previous year.
Also notable is the rise in searches for terms such as “pop-up,” and “temporary event,” which saw increases of more than 100 percent from a year ago. “Event staff,” which generally refers to those hired for special retail events, also saw an increase of 99.2 percent in searches.
The most searched term, “convenience store,” has retained the top spot since the annual analysis began in 2020, followed by “cafe,” “pharmacy” and “academy.”
