Kane Brown set the record straight during an appearance on CMT’s Hot 20
Post Malone told Kane Brown to shoot his shot in beer pong — and paid the price.
The “Backseat Driver” singer told Cody Alan on CMT’s Hot 20 about a friendly round of the drinking game that he played with Jelly Roll against Malone, 29, and Jason Aldean after the 2024 ACM Awards in May 2024.
Some fans believed that Malone, known for his beer pong skills, came out the victor in the matchup. Brown, 31, however, is telling his version of the tale. “A lot of people are like, ‘Oh, who do you think won?’ A lot of people are like, ‘Oh, it’s Post and Jelly, ’cause they play all the time.’ “
He added: “Wrong! Man, I was killin’ ’em!”

“It was water in the cups, it wasn’t beer,” Brown recalled. “He [Post Malone] was dumping his cigarettes in the last cup, and the table was super long.”
“I was like, ‘I’m gonna hit this cup.’ He said, ‘If you hit this cup, I’ll drink it,’ ” Brown said of Malone.
“I looked Aldean in the eyes, and I looked at Post, and I said, ‘Drink up,’ ” Brown recalled before landing the beer pong ball in the cup with a perfect shot. Accepting defeat, the “Circles” singer drank the murky cigarette water.
Brown said that for the next round of beer pong, he was partners with Jelly Roll, 48, and they wound up defeating Malone and Aldean, 48.
The “Pour Me a Drink” singer’s ciggie water cocktail wasn’t the first unusual beverage Posty consumed. In 2019, during a concert in Australia, Malone poured beer into a fan’s sneaker and slowly chugged the drink for the crowd.
“That shoe was especially sticky,” he said after drinking from the shoe, according to a fan video.

Another time Malone lost a game of beer pong, the consequences were a bit more drastic. In 2020, after losing to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce in beer pong, Posty got a tattoo of their signatures.
“He had a tattoo artist sitting right there, he just happened to be right there in the back room. We beat him, put our signatures on a piece of paper and I’m pretty sure after the show, he went straight over to that tattoo artist and got it tattooed.”
“Man of his word, which I f—ing respect,” Travis, 35, recalled during a 2024 episode of New Heights.
