‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’ arrives in theaters May 23

Tom Cruise is gearing up for another ride as Ethan Hunt.

On Monday, April 7, Paramount Pictures released the full trailer for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, which reveals new plot details surrounding the eighth chapter in the Mission: Impossible saga and gives fans a fresh look at characters portrayed by Hannah Waddingham, Nick Offerman and Severance‘s Tramell Tillman. A few other beloved characters are reprising their roles in The Final Reckoning, including Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg, who will return to Ethan’s team as IMF’s computer technician Luther Tickell and IMF’s technical field agent Benji Dunn, respectively. Vanessa KirbyHayley Atwell, Shea Whigham, Pom Klementieff and Henry Czerny, who all starred in the seventh film, will appear in the eighth as well.

The trailer’s release comes just after Cruise appeared at CinemaCon 2025 with Mission: Impossible director Christopher McQuarrie, whom Cruise presented with an award after he led the convention in a moment of silence for the late Val Kilmer, who died at 65 on April 1.

The upcoming Mission: Impossible movie will leave off where Dead Reckoning ended, with Ethan and the IMF working to stop Gabriel and the Entity before it’s too late. Few details have been released about what’s at stake, but according to the trailer, “the fate of every living soul” is at risk.

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning hits theaters May 23, 2025.
