Blackpink’s Lisa to make history as 1st K-pop singer to perform at Oscars

Lisa, a member of the girl group Blackpink, is set to make history as the first K-pop artist to perform at the Academy Awards, which will take place on March 2.

The Academy unveiled the full lineup of performers for the 97th Academy Awards on its official website on Monday, confirming Lisa’s participation in the event.

The K-pop sensation will take the stage alongside American rapper Doja Cat and British singer-songwriter Raye, with whom she recently collaborated on the single “Born Again.”

“Three global superstars. One epic Oscar moment,” read the caption on The Academy’s Facebook video announcing the performers. “Doja Cat, Lisa of Blackpink, and RAYE take the stage for a showstopping celebration of cinema.”

The ceremony will also feature performances by “Wicked” stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, American rapper Queen Latifah, and several other notable artists.

Born Pranpriya Manoban, Lisa is now 28 and debuted with Blackpink in 2016. She launched her solo career in 2021 with the album Lalisa, and her single “Money” made history by becoming the first song by a K-pop artist to surpass 1 billion streams on Spotify.

In addition to her musical success, Lisa serves as a global ambassador for luxury brands such as Celine and Bulgari, and boasts over 105 million followers on Instagram.

Media outlets estimate her net worth at US$25 million. She reportedly purchased a mansion in Beverly Hills, California, next to the mountains, for US$3.95 million in April 2024. She also owns a duplex in Seoul valued at 7.5 billion won (US$5.2 million).

Recently, she made headlines with the latest addition to her car collection—a silver metallic Ferrari Purosangue, featuring glossy black accents.
