The mom of three shares her three children with her ex Eric Johnson
Jessica Simpson is giving a special shoutout to her “baby lady.”
On Monday, March 31, the mom of three, 44, belatedly celebrated her younger daughter Birdie‘s 6th birthday with a sweet tribute on Instagram. The carousel featured several pictures and videos of her little one as she celebrated her special day on March 19.
“On March 19th my baby lady, Birdie Mae, turned 6! I cannot get enough of her talkative, dramatic and wildly hilarious storytellin’, moment sharin’, day makin’, contagious laughin’, quick witted comedy!!!” she wrote. “Birdie is a one of a kind personality that can make the sun always shine and the moon beam on your every dream.”
“Her favorite color is a pastel rainbow and sometimes she just favors all black…oh she just told me it is now green,” she added. “She sings, she screams, she belly dances Bollywood, she knits, she flips and flops her way through gymnastics, she treasures tiny things, and appreciates all kinds of art. Birdie plays tennis and make believe, she’s a trampoline queen, a monkey bar champion, and always on time!”

“Bird demands your undivided attention, she organizes, she’s never not clean, and love, love, LOVES to get dressed up!” she continued. “Bird shares her heart with everyone and by golly her family is her all and everything. Birdie is boy crazy and thinks boys are crazy. She is an emotional feeler that lets you know exactly how much and why. Birdie Mae is my soul child beltin’ SONGBIRD and is always on the BRIGHTEST SIDE OF LIFE!!!”
Simpson and her estranged husband Eric Johnson are the proud parents of three kids: Maxwell “Maxi” Drew, 12, Ace Knute, 11, and Birdie Mae. The couple were married for 10 years before announcing their split on Jan. 13.
“Becoming a mom has helped me realize I’m actually proud of myself for a lot of the things I have done in my life,” she shared in October 2013. “Having my kids has made me feel so much more at peace with myself.”

During a March 2020 appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Simpson revealed that her children served as her main motivation to get sober.
“I was at a place where I was literally spiraling with the alcohol and I was missing out on moments with my children, and then they were seeing me and they were very confused,” she shared. “I just wanted to be present and have clarity and be a good role model for my children.”
While her kids are “growing up so fast,” the proud mom appreciates the little moments. “When I hear my kids cackle, it’s the most healing sound,” Simpson told Shape in January 2021. “It’s contagious — my whole family starts giggling together, and it’s like some form of happy laughing therapy.”
